Where we are now

Fashion remains one of the most polluting industries in the world. According to the Danish Fashion Institute, fashion is the world's second most polluting industry, exceeded only by oil.

Hailing from Paris, LVMH is a luxury fashion company that stands for high-quality products and luxury lifestyles. As a limited company, LVMH has published yearly sustainability reports and ran various ‘green’ initiatives such as its LIFE (LVMH Indicators For the Environment) program.

However, LVMH has still recently received the worst sustainability score ratings by several independent organizations (Rankabrand 2016; Ethical Consumer, 2016). LVMH’s negative association with poor sustainability potentially puts the brand’s reputation at risk, which might affect future sales.

The major current sustainability issues we have identified are that LVMH does not communicate any concrete targets  in reducing the company’s environmental impact, carbon emissions, or improving labor conditions in low-wage countries.
